The
Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, Inc., is a 501(c)(3)
not-for-profit organization founded in 1983. The
BMHOF was created for the cultural enhancement and
enrichment of Buffalo and Western New York through
the region's musicians and music history and to
recognize individuals and groups who have made a
significant impact on the music scene, locally,
nationally and internationally. Inductees are chosen
by a formal nomination process from applications
submitted by the public via the nomination form
found on the website. Nominees are rated in several
different categories including longevity in Western
New York, historical impact, community service in
music and musical versatility, just to name a few.
The cutoff for applications each year is April 1.
The new class is announced at a press conference
held in the early summer and recognizes and formally
inducts nominees at its Annual Induction Gala that
is held in early October of each year.
In
addition to honoring outstanding music professionals
and preserving the rich musical heritage of the
area, the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame is committed
to educating and presenting music to people of all
ages. It is proud to be sponsoring and supporting
many programs including:

o Music scholarships for budding high school musicians
o Songwriters Workshop
o Digital Music Archiving Program
o Musician Medics Program
o Hall of Fame Alumni CDs featuring music previously
recorded or exclusive cuts not available anywhere

o Local Music Festivals including Music Is Art and
the M&T Bank Lunchtime Series A future goal
of the BMHOF is to maintain a permanent facility
including displays, plaques, memorabilia and other
artifacts relating to the area's vast musical heritage.
