2008 BUFFALO MUSIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE

Ed Bentley

BMHOF Class of 2008

How does someone from Sweet Home High School end up in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame? Ed grew up loving the sounds of rock and roll which were based on Rockabilly in the mid 1950’s. His rock group in the 1960’s, the Tunerockers, performed their hit record, “The Green Mosquito” on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, but he kept on playing and writing his own music which led him to Nashville and Memphis recording studios – the Mecca of rockabilly music. His return to Buffalo in 1969 saw the opening of Ed Bentley Music and the hiring of a fine staff which included future BMHOF member Scott Freilich. The National Rockabilly Hall of Fame took notice of his musical body of work in 2004 and rewarded those years of effort by inducting him. Ed has recorded a number of successful rockabilly albums of his own music and his lasted CD is on the charts in Europe and Australia today
