Throughout his career Doug Yeomans
has always given guitar lessons. He has instructed hundreds people of all
ages in the art of playing the guitar. He is very proud that many of his
students have been playing in some of Buffalo's most popular bands for
many years.
In 1987 Doug became active in playing
Bluegrass music. He joined the band Creekbend. He worked with the band
till 1992 and got involved in promoting national Bluegrass acts in Buffalo.
In 1992 he took over promotions with his partner Ted Lambert. In 15 years
of shows Doug promoted over 50 concerts, including the biggest names in
Bluegrass like, Bill Monroe, Del McCoury, Doyle Lawson, The Johnson Mt.
Boys, The Bluegrass Cardinals, and many more. Doug opened all of these
shows!
Doug Yeomans has opened shows for many
great acts such as, Muddy Waters, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Dave Mason,
Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benetar, REO Speedwagon, The Band, Roger McGuinn, Ko
Ko Taylor, Lee Roy Parnell, Merle Haggard, Asleep at the Wheel, Junior
Brown, Bob Weir, Tanya Tucker, Johnny A., Slash, Maria Muldaur, and many
more.
In 2000 Doug expanded his educational
endeavors and created The Stringmen. Teaming up with violin ace GeoffPerry,
The Stringmen perform shows in schools with the focus on creating the possibility
that students will identify with one of the instruments we showcase and
pursue their own musical aspirations. Their latest show is titled Blues
to Bluegrass, a look at the history of these two unique American music
forms. |
