Angelo Callea

BMHOF Class of 2003

A lifelong Buffalonian, Angelo Callea never had a music lesson. To some, this might seem like a hindrance, but this player, composer, arranger and bandleader never missed a beat. Angelo's long and distinguished musical career included stints with Chuck Mangione and other local luminaries. Angelo Callea's career highlights include arranging and performing with the Artie Shaw, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Elvis Presley, Paul Anka, Tony Bennet and Aretha Franklin. Mr. Callea was recently recognized by the Variety Club for his 30 years of dedication as conductor of their orchestra and served as an officer of Buffalo Musicians Local 92 for over 20 years. Angelo Callea passed away on March 4 of this year.
