Joanne "Jo Jo" MuDuffie-Funderburg remains the principle vocalist of The Mary Jane Girls. The group was formed and produced by Rick James at Motown Records in the mid 1980's. When putting the Mary Jane Girls together Rick James traveled the country to find the right members and returned to his hometown of Buffalo, where he found Jo Jo, who became the featured vocalist.

The Mary Jane Girls released a number of hits, including "In My House", "Wild and Crazy Love" and "Walk Like A Man". Their songs continue to receive airplay on R&B stations and a number of their songs have been sampled on other recordings.

Jo Jo McDuffie currently lives in L.A. She appeared on Rick James' last album "Urban Rapsody" and still tours with The Mary Jane Girls.
