Rick James

BMHOF Class of 1996

Coming from the streets of Buffalo and a former Toronto band mate of Neil Young, The King of Funk was one of the most successful back crossover artists of the early 80's. His album "Street Songs" was the #3 selling album of 1980 and was #1 on the album charts for 22 weeks. In addition to his recordings he produced and presented, Process & the Doo Rags, The Mary Jane Girls and Teena Marie. Rick started a comeback in 1997 but in November 1998 suffered a stroke after a concert in Denver. He is recuperating at his LA home and we are certain he will soon return to the stage and recordings with his trademark sound.

Rick recently finished recording another album and is planning to tour in 2000.
