10,000 Maniacs
rock band
BMHOF Class of 1994

Since their beginning in Jamestown in the early '80s, the 10,000 Maniacs were determined to break onto the national scene, so they kept releasing their own independent albums and playing college towns up and down the East coast. Since then, they have enjoyed platinum albums and international fame.

The original group included Natalie Merchant (vocals), Rob Buck (guitar), John Lombardo (guitar), Steven Gustafson (bass) and Dennis Drew (keyboard). John left before the band broke nationally and Sloan, NY native Jerry Augustyniak (formerly with the Stains and the Elements) joined as drummer.

During the band's 1994 tour John and his partner, violinist/vocalist Mary Ramsey opened all of the Maniacs' shows and contributed to the album. When Natalie left to pursue a successful solo career, John and Mary became full-time members of the band.

The new 10,000 Maniacs have released two new albums and they are again touring nationally. Both the albums and shows are receiving positive reviews from critics across the country.

A special display case of 10,000 Maniacs memorabilia is in the planning and should be dedicated during the summer of 2000. Watch this page for updates.
