Michael Hund
rock guitarist
BMHOF Class of 1992
Michael Hund, nicknamed Blonde
Bombshell by friends and fans, is
one of the most versatile guitarists in Buffalo.
His stage performance is lively and entertaining
and his playing has the passionate feel
of a blues
player, combined with the pyrotechnics
of a young metal
head. His mother played
petal steel guitar in country bands. So,
Michael learned early on that there was more
to music than three chords and a distortion
pedal. After taking lessons for years
and playing in some high school rock bands,
Michael went on the road with a top
forty group. But top forty was too confining
for a talent like Michael's. Looking for
a Buffalo band to work with, he found a niche
in the Jamie Moses Band, replacing guitarist
extraordinaire George Puleo (who had to leave
to tour in Europe with Gamalon). He
played three or four nights a week with Jamie
Moses and also played in Allstar bands
at Desiderio's and Sinbads. That year,
1989, he was voted Best Rock Guitarist. The
following year Michael remained with the Jamie
Moses Band and also began playing
in The Standard.
In 1990 he was on the cover
of ARTVOICE magazine and was again voted
Best Rock Guitarist. In 1991, Michael
still played with Jamie Moses and also joined
Crash Pony, a project of Andy Gerovac
of Mighty Taco. The band had a CD and
did several showcase performances. And,
of course, he was once more voted Best
Rock Guitarist. Now as he enters the Hall
of Fame, Michael is working on a project
in L.A. with drummer Mike Licata (whom
Michael played with in Bang Orchestra).
The band, Skeetz (formerly The Quakes),
has a demo which is currently being
shopped to major labels. |
